• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I think it's probably guys like me who are baby boomers born in the '50s and '60s, die hard rockers and love the things that are keeping the flame alive.
It'll be interesting in say 10 years time to see what's happening.
What's your experience Pat, which demographic are buying all the gibsons?
We get a lot of young guys too. Mainly pedals, mid range guitars and amps. Of course, the older cats buy more expensive gear because they have more disposable income.

So it's across the board basically.
We know that Gibson are snowed under with backorders right now and that they're working their way through the backlog over the next few years.
In 1967 the world's population was 3.462 billion and in 2022 it's 8.0 billion.
Back then Gibson weren't selling anywhere near what they do today, it'd be interesting to find out approx how many guitars they do sell per year now.

I hadn't been in a GC for over 6 months until I decided to go to the local 'platinum' store recently. I doubt I was in there for more than 5 minutes, they just had a lot of the same old meh shit. At least in the old days they had a few interesting guitars, amps or pedals.

The one I visit on occasion changed drastically a couple of years ago. I see this thread is 4 years old. Apparently MASSIVE debt is how you keep a country like the USA afloat. Guess it works for GC too. Never seemed to work for me but what do I know?

I go to Guitar Center all the time. I find a lot of cool used gear there. Two near me usually have some high end guitars to look at as well. I never ask to play anything unless I’m serious about buying it that day. It’s a fun stop.
