• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Hideous paint jobs excluded, my least favorites:
1. Jackson Randy Rhoads models played by anyone other than Randy Rhoads.
2. A pointed headstock on a Strat body.
3. PRS (all of them)
4. Gibson Reverse V
5. That curly horn guitar that Prince played.
6. Mosrite (Sugarfoot gets a pass)
7. Hamer "paddle" headstock
8. Small headstock Dean
9. BC Rich
10. Gibson Moderne

That headstock writing and nut just always looked sickening to me.

Fastest LP I've ever played. Tone was incredible! Should have kept it... Mine was a P90 Goldtop model.
I think it's just that 'Les Paul 100' thing that's a real eyesore for me (and of course those robot tuners), and yeah that's superficial if it actually plays and sounds great. Actually, if they were gong for a steal I'd maybe consider just getting one and having the headstock face replaced or something, and tuners.

The prices have climbed since selling mine, especially on the P90 GT model. It was the best sounding, best playing LP I've ever owned - Historic models included. It knew this when I sold it. Why I sold it, I have no idea? I do shit like that... The "LP 100" thing didn't bother me all that much. It did at first, but quickly became a non-issue once I plugged it in. I didn't removed the robot tuners, as I knew the added mass was contributing to the tone of the instrument. Mine worked flawlessly! Being able to swap between tunings was great. We were doing several Aerosmith songs that required open G and dropped.

Every Goldtop that gets its neck drilled and steamed out, routed for humbuckers, converted to a burst. Or any combination thereof. Shame on you.

That goes for the 50s Specials and Juniors that get converted, too. What the actual????

Other than greed or inferiority complex, there is no legit reason.

There are a few that are such basket-cases, have been routed and drilled and repainted so much over the years - before they were worth anything - before 'vintage' guitars was a thing, that I'm OK with conversions. But yes, taking otherwise fine instruments and doing all that - ungood.

There is never justification for turning them into what I consider an abomination: something they never were. I understand that a Burst fetches more $$$$$ and fuels delicate egos, but in my world, Goldtops rule supreme, P-90 Goldtops even more so. (y)

To me it is adding '57 fins to a '55 Chevy, or grafting 1967 headlights and taillights onto a 1969 Camaro: ridiculous, and both models are beyond legitimate on their own.

Build a replica if you want a Burst. Leave the Goldtops alone or restore them. We don't repaint the Mona Lisa over DaVinci's lesser known works. OK, we do. And it is just as absurd.

Guess I’ll be the first, everyone has their own opinions, likes and dislikes. I’m not a fan of Rickenbacker Guitars, I love Rickenbacker Basses but not the Guitars.

Also, not a fan of the giant-wing head-stocks on Dean Guitars.

I don't get it. They're just flippin' guitars and now it's just a freakin' fashon parade of stuff some shallow posers don't think look as cool as they should when voguing in the mirror. Makes me sick to my stomach.

Guitars made out of African Padauk. The first time I was okay. The second time I had trouble breathing and became nauseous. Found out I was allergic to African Padauk.
