• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Has anyone changed the finish on the neck of a LP to satin?

I have some solid rosewood necks with satin finishes on Fenders and they are fantastic. I'm curious if the neck wood on a Les Paul would take to a satin finish and if others have done this...

I have on two guitars - 2002 standard and RR Custom. Opened up the sound and was a bit brighter.

The Gibson faded and satin(!) models are satin. If you got a gloss neck and you want a smoother, satin feel, just treat your neck with very fine sandpaper or steel wool.

No, and I wouldn't recommend it unless you plan on never selling it. If that's the case just use some steel wool.
