I was working on a new instrumental song tonight ,and this is the guitar I was working with, my L5s. It's a great sounding guitar. And plays like a dream. I always laugh when people say the Norlin Era Gibson company never built a great guitar. Everything about this guitar is great. It took me about five years of looking almost every night online for the right L5s, and I'm glad I was persistent

This is the song that I was working on, so I recorded it today with two L5s guitars 'the 75 for the rhythm, a '78 for the lead, and a R4 LP for some little trem fills. Surely not the typical L5s sound It's all Sunface FX pedal and M-EQ Driver by Origin FX. When my band plays it, the bass player will round out the sound with some bottom. Should be fun, well that's what I wrote it for

I'm sure you know this, because we are both Stones fans, but I am a HUGE Mick Taylor fan, and Can't You Hear Me Knocking is one of the first times I heard a guitar solo that stopped me in my tracks. He always seemed to wring just the right amount of midrange out of his guitar to make them sing, and he never played too fast, always letting his tone do the talking. He inspired me to start playing lead guitar. In all of my bands I've always been the lead singer, so that kind of put me in the rhythm guitar slot, but with my lastest band I play at least half of the solos and I am having the time of my life. And lately I've been dabbling with this great Marshall amp (actually a 2204/JCM800 hybrid clone) that a friend built and so lead guitar has never been so much fun!!! This is the amp I'm talking about...

They look pretty basic but beside that nice thin neck the 6 position pickup selector is quite versatile. I really like it.

My sister's son in law has one like that and he loves it. Nothing to do with an L5s, so I always wondered why they chose that name. But with Gibson who knows what they were thinking!

The 6 followed the 5 and I THINK it was because the 2 share a similar wider lower bout and body shape. Past that, I got nothing.

And they are both all maple! Other than the fingerboard that is!
