• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Try this website:
http://www.geetarz.org/reviews/clapton/bluesbreaking-front.jpg

When the page comes up, the pic may be small but if you put your cursor over it, it should show an "expand" icon. Click on it and, presto! Can plainly see that he was using a block-logo JTM45 half stack before he got the "Bluesbreaker" 1962 second-series combo that he recorded the Beano album with. Check out his guitar strap...

Lots of cool stuff there. Comprehensive listing of Clapton bootlegs with cover art. Pics you may never see elsewhere but none for sale. :wah

Cool, Greco! Also, I think he used Vox AC's as well. One of those pics shows one and I think there's another form the "Looking Back" inner sleeve that shows Vox. Maybe it was McVie's? Don't know if they work for bass or not...

You can see the Marshall 'white' grill of the half stack behind Clapton in the photo where he has a white shirt on. My guess is the weird 3 speaker thing is the bass amp and the Vox was used by Mayall or vice versa? :hmm

Bearing in mind that it's the same room, which suggests the same night, and they were gigging at a time when it was common to do two sets a night. Clapton would've used the Marshall and probably just changed his shirt between sets.

I've definitely got a problem...:rofl

I found another old pic of Clapton playing the SummersBurst in my old copy of the A.R. Duchossoir book. I'll post it soon.

The amplifier on the stool at the front is a solid state Burns Orbit which most likely had 3x10 Burns orbital speakers.

As they give out a very clean sound, perhaps John Mayall is using it as some kind of pa!?

What a great name for an amp. Y'all are kickin' it. Good point Greco about the changing of shirts/two sets tip...

Ok, here's that pic of Clapton w/ the SummersBurst. I think its from the same show as the pic on the "Renovating the Blues" boot. Check out how far back and close to the bridge he is picking.:bug I should put this in the "Clapton Burst Folder" ...This is from the "Gibson Electrics" book by A.R. Duchossoir from '81. I don't know if its still in print so maybe some of the younger readers have not seen it. Very well-loved and used copy. :)
