Hi all,

I just acquired a neat little Gibson acoustic guitar in a trade.

At first, I had no interest in keeping it. I was going to pop it on eBay and move it. However, after playinbg this "rough looking" little guitar, I'm impressed! Beautiful deep tone, nice neck!

Anyhow, here are the details,, I'd really like to know what model it is and what year it was made if anyone can help. I would greatly appreciate it!

It is a small steel-string acoustic, dark wood all over (top, sides and back (mahogany?)) with a tortise pickguard AND body binding. Black-face headstock with gold "Gibson" decal. Has the "strip-type" tuners with white plastic buttons. Pearl dot fret markers, rosewood fretboard. I'd estimate that it was made in the 60's or 70's. Not a top-of-the-line model obviously, but man what tone! I'm going to fix it up and use it to record with alongside my Taylor.

Serial number on back of headstock is: 314xxx

Thanks in advance for any help IDing this guitar!!!

Is the pickguard screwed on to the top? Most likely it's an LG-0

Do an ebay search and see what they are selling for. that's the quickest way to find out what it's "worth".

Hey, thanks for the reply 535.

Yea, the pickguard is screwed on the top.
I added a photo above as you can now see.

I'll get on evilbay and look around.

Thanks again.

It's a mid 60's LG-0.
The bridge is plastic and is screwed to the top from the underside.
Solid mahogany top with ladder bracing.
Gibson's "entry level" flattop.
Fun guitars. Produced by the thousands.

Someone emailed me and said it looked like a 1946 model because of the logo and the open tuners...

I decided to put it up on eBay due to the fact that I have other things to pay for and I took this in trade only to resell it. The sound and playability are excellent. Would actually like to keep it for recording due to its crisp deep tone. Anyhow, here is a link to the ebay auction with some photos of the logo and tuners.

I have no idea what the thing is worth. Let me know if I'm out of line on the price.

I looked at your pictures. Are you sure that serial number begins with 3? It looks like a 0 [zero].
Anyway, with open, import keys, plastic bridge [I hope they really didn't try to glue it:eek], I'd guess: mid to late 60's LG-0. [Did I say that?]

Looks like a fair deal. It's worth more than $200. :tw59

Thanks TW59.

I just looked pretty close and yea, it appears to be 3144XX.

It has a pretty nice hard-shell case with it too.
