• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Hey Mat, Is Gibson going to offer any Jimmy Page signature or Jimmy Page inspired guitars in the future. I believe the last Jimmy Page signature guitar was a Fender which is almost heresy around these parts.

How about Jimmy’s #1 pre t-top, with a double white bridge pickup as seen in the RAH concert. Could be the “inspired by Jimmy Page RAH model”. It wouldn’t be difficult. Choosing an appropriate top, shaving the neck and sticking a double white custom custombucker in the bridge. No push pull pots or any of that later nonsense. You already have the specs to Jimmy’s number 1. You could do an Aged and VOS version. I mean, c’mon, you guys can get creative over at Gibson. Then again, you did release a “Melvyn Franks” Les Paul.

Seriously, one more time around the park for the greatest Les Paul slinger of them all.
If I didn't have an elaborate Jimmy Page collection product proposal, I wouldn't be doing my job! He's the reason I am where I am...he started the guitar obsession for me and he's my favorite rock guitarist. But I can't divulge anything more than the fact that we at Gibson love Jimmy and he deserves so much of the credit for our success...we would be honored and elated to work with him again. Fingers crossed.

I would take it a step further and ask for a more normal neck profile as long as the pencil thin neck that Mr. Page likes . Those tiny profile necks are a turn off and there should be an option or choice of a more normal profile . I don't mind the push pull business as that's easy enough to fix / correct . If I was truthful , I kind of like the option of different tonal variety from a Les Paul.

This is the exact reason why I am obsessed with Les Paul's from Mr. Page himself .

That is awesome!!! We actually talked about doing variants that would include humbuckers/ABR1...even trems. Who knows, it may happen.

Oh man, I hope that happens! I really like the look of these but already have a fantastic P90 guitar (a Custom Shop LP Jr).

I'll second the "fatter neck' issue.

Last 2 Gibson style guitars I bot I had to get custom made from a private builder because Gibson doesn't offer a fat necked small guard SG or a sub $5 grand Korina Flying V.

Point being: not everyone likes the skinny neck stuff.

Been looking for a Gibson LP (Axcess, etc) with a fat neck and a Floyd for months... evidently they don't exist. The Demo Shop has had a few that were close... and on one I actually went to get my credit card to buy it... but it sold before I got back to the computer lol.

I do love the Demo Shop stuff: its a great idea!

You can have Gibson Custom build you what you want thru the Made 2 Measure program .

Hi Mat; I was wondering when the updated, “Vintage Correct” ABR-1 are going to be installed on new guitars?
Thanks!

I have had 3 M2M's made through Gibson Custom. In 2018 I did an R7 Goldtop and a CS-336 P90. Both necks are over 1" deep/thick and have huge shoulders. In 2019, I ordered my 6oth Anniv R0 with the same neck profile. This time I sent my 336 back down to Nashville to have the neck scanned. That profile is now on file there and was used by The Music Zoo when they did a small run of "Monster Neck" Historic Les Pauls last year (2021). Another LPF member has a '59 ES-335 being built as we speak, based on my neck profile. So to answer your question, the big neck specs are already in-house @1612 Elm Hill Pike..!!!

pictured below is the computer scan of my 336, the neck shaper (bare wood and after finishing) and a pic of my Goldtop neck depth (1st fret 1.023")
BTW this neck profile was referred to as "The Babe" due to its size, as in its baseball bat neck size.... Ruth himself would have loved it. Not to be confused with the CC LP The Babe

A fat neck is absolutely one of the options for an SG through the Custom Shop's M2M program (which I considered doing, as a fellow fat neck lover, until the thicker-necked '64 SG got released a few years ago - I grabbed one and have been very happy with it).

I am a fan of the "Real Feel" from Dave Carpenter/Music Machine days, and alternatively a 30/60. If they don't have the exact Real Feel on file I will send mine in when I get ready to do a M2M... thanks for the story.
