• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Hey Joe B...rig rundown of the new BCC album please??

Anxiously awaiting the new material with that stellar group of musicians - just wondering which guitars/amps/pedals were your favoured weapons of choice?

If you're not too busy....Thanks in advance...

I know he blew two tweed Bassmans in the recording process. I'll let him fill in the details.:2cool

If only he knew where to find another tweed amp.

Power or output transformers? Sad day in either case. That 'tonal nirvana' right before they blew could indicate that some biasing problem let things get out of control.

Just a wild guess....but more than likely the output transformer(s). Windings get pretty creaky on those old girls.:dang

Was this recorded in a country with different electricity than the amps were made for? :hmm

The songs are very much in the school of deep purple and Free. I used the high power twins and the Bassman amps til each of the Bassmans decided to take a three week union break. Output transformers all around. Mercury Magnetics is rewinding the originals as we speak. Luckily I had the 3x10 Slub -o- fier and a low power twin to take their place. I only mic one amp directly in the studio but use all four. The room mic loves big volume. My trick is to be absurdly loud in a small room. If it doesn't shake the walls and rattle the glass ..... add another amp. Skinner Burst 90 percent of the album and there ya go. Liberating not having to do the pedal dance anymore. Sounds bigger to my ears. :salude

I'm waiting for the Marshall guys to chime in with a "that's what he gets for bringing a knife to a gun fight!"

My tweed rig is MUCH louder than the Marshall rig. Those little yellow boxes pack a punch!! The album was cut at East West Studios in Los Angeles... 10 mins from my house using 120 ish volts.

Sorry for being out of the loop here... Is Glen Hughes singing? I'd love that!
