• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Hello,

I have been on this forum since high school and have always wanted to send a guitar to Historic Makeovers and keep it as my forever guitar and let it age with me. This guitar started off as a 2020 R8 that I purchased from Dave's guitars (great shop). It weighs 7.6 lbs, not chambered. I sent it off to HM soon after receiving it so I'm now getting to bond with it in its finished state, which is fantastic. I went with the Standard package, but without the the neck recarve. I also had Throbak DT-102 (DW) installed while it was there. The finish is their standard faded tobacco, and I just could not be more pleased with the result. I have included some picture of the finish checking that is already appearing. Enjoy! 375CF5D3-4679-4D6F-B6CF-1D2C409C229E.jpegD09EC29B-E990-451F-BCDE-932801BB264F.jpeg2052E972-702E-4F25-9C7A-D5BCE6110C08.jpeg1FC129D5-6C6B-4704-A72E-440509EB273E.jpeg

On recent CS guitars there really is no reason other than an over-the-top case of detailitis (edited) to go HM deluxe- starting from about 2014. The construction is quite good/excellent. The finish less so. The indoor shots are spectacular- I want a tobacco burst. The new top carve is excellent.
Only the purchase of a vintage piece pried my HM out of my hands.
But you should have gotten a stinger.
