• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Murphy, because of the white switch tip . By the way I have seen Gibson Custom using white switch tips instead of the amber color . What is up with that ? Supply disruption issue from the Pandemic ? Anyone know why ? I hate the white as it is not historically correct !
They are actually shipping both. The white one is affixed during shipping because the bare threaded rod tip was ripping the lining of the cases during transport. The amber one is included in the case as before, so you can swap them out when you purchase it.

O looks like pre-ML modern Gibson, P looks vintage.
O is a Tommy Colletti custom shop aged historic from several years back - very limited addition

P is a 1952 vintage goldtop which has been refinished to a burst

Yea I’ve yet to see any Murphy with a fretboard and binding that looks like a worn original. Some look pretty close to originals with little wear, but none look like originals with significant wear, shrunken inlays, etc.

Thanks for the reply and the info . That is actually very logical as Mr. Spock would say . The cases to say the least are an issue . In February when I took delivery of my 2 newest M2M R9's they came with the amber switch tip on and in the lead/bridge position . So that is very smart from Gibson Custom . I always worry about the amber switch tip getting busted during transit , as in some of my 8- R series Les Paul's it would be left in the case pocket in a tiny zip lock bag. I would open the case and gasp as to where it was , then go into the case pocket and find it along with everything else that is supposed to be in there . Bless Gibson ,they never leave anything missing .
