• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

She's going to get so chewed up if she keeps doing interviews. No wonder McCain is trying to hide her behind him and keep her in controlled situations.

not necessarily backpedaling, imo. People with faith tend to believe things are from God. If she loves her country and his proud of the troops then she might believe they are embarking on a task from God like she believes anything else is from God.

She said she doesn't know God's will or pretend to speak God's words and just hopes our troops are on God's side. It's not like she said we are waging a holy war.

Nothing wrong with that, imo. Is atheism a prerequisite for running for VP?

I think she did a GREAT job explaining the Christian point of view, and that view is either misunderstood, or purposely misrepresented by the media in general.

A true Christian admits that they do not presume to know God's will, BUT truly hopes that what they do, serves that will. Even an atheist like I am, understands that!

1000% backpedal in that what she originally said at the church isn't what she tried to spin it into during the interview. It was most certainly not a paraphrase of any Lincoln speech. It was her expressing her conviction that soldiers in Iraq were on a "task that is from God", which is fine and her right to say, but what she did during the interview was to waffle from that faith based belief & try and homogenize it for the masses.

I tend to agree with you in part, however, I would add a bit of clarification. I don't believe she in any way thinks we are waging a "holy war" like Charlie tried to imply. She is merely stating her belief that God is behind us and with us waging this war against terrorism. That is how I see it.

The Lincoln quote was garbled, too. What he really said was, "If you are a racist, then I will attack you with the North."

Well her intelligence and thoughtfulness shows, she is not willing to be bullied either. She will probably pull Putin around by the ear!

Politics is a "no win" business.... :wah

I have to agree , politics & religion ruin many Forum/chat rooms off-topic areas as they seem to dominate the board by a few over opinionated individuals who never know when to quit , IMO. :fc

If she can't handle a hand-picked interviewer, than she will struggle down the line.

That this quote from the McCain campaign should be allowed to float by is amazing: We won't provide interviews until "at which point in time we feel like the news media is going to treat her with some level of respect and deference." Since when does the media serve and defer to those in power? The news media serves the people by providing them with information. Say what you will about the media, but that is a VERY disturbing quote for our future as a country and the future of a free press. Almost as disturbing as these farces of interviews are. Charlie Gibson is a lightweight who let both McCain and Palin lie to his face, and either let them do it for fear of his career, or ignorance.

Here is what happens when an interviewer gains some balls and goes off the script:
McCain in the headlights
Of course, when the media actually calls out a republican politician for spouting BS, they are a "liberal media."

Boy, I'll say. A little off-topic but...

I went to a neighborhood meeting the other night held by our City Council rep and a couple of people from the Planning Department to inform us about a 4-acre plot that is being split into 8 1/2 acre chunks on which homes will be built. Council and the planning people cannot stop it even if they wanted to because the developers plans meet all zoning, natural features, erosion control, water and sewage, traffic, etc., ordinances. They just held the meeting as informational. Mind you, this is months after the Public Input sessions which were duly held and announced as they must be prior to any development.

The local radical anti-development folks were there in force and, among many other accusations, literally accused the city of intentionally letting the property be developed in order to kill children crossing the street. These people were really, really angry, threatening, and abusive. They called the council guy a liar regarding the traffic study, said they hoped someone got killed so the city would get sued. It was amazing.

I wouldn't take that job for anything, even a burst.
