• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Honest question. Why do some people get so offended with expensive limited-editions?

Why do some people get so offended when Gibson releases a very expensive, limited-edition CS guitar? (E.g. The recent Leo Scala ones, or even the Theodores).

Do those people know they don’t have to buy said guitar? It’s not like Gibson is putting their USA or cheaper CS guitars out of production because of those, they’re just an addition that really…. If it’s too expensive, they don’t have to buy it. It really baffles me.

I really like those Leo Scala Vs and wish I had the money to buy one, but I don’t so I just enjoy the pictures and videos and wish/will work hard so that some day maybe I will be able to get one for myself.

Now if I was a lefty I'd go M2M and get 'em that way jb.

Yeah, however 'Lefty Upcharge' applies, and also Gibson won't replicate Limited Run type stuff, just approximate them...

I am thinking about a M2M R54/55 Custom, Black Beauty or perhaps a custom color, and... Chambered.

Need some ALNICO Staple love in my life!

It has a great effect on the market altogether. You're not getting what you used to get for the kind of money Gibson is trying to command today. That's my opinion, at least.

For me aspirational, when a lovely sports car drives pass me I think well done, I can’t afford a new lester at the mo but I look all the time because if I could I would.

Probably, the suspicion is that they never get played...just put in a glass display case and admired from a few feet back while sipping a martoonie.

Simple. They can’t afford it and feel entitled they should have one too.
The main point is you can buy an "Aged Pearly Gates" on the used market for less than that meaningless 1 pickup flying V.

That's the point.

Who is the target market for those flying V's?

from a few feet back while sipping a martoonie.

Here's a story about this. An old buddy of mine(deceased now unfortunately) was a biggish drinker (beer mainly), loved his music and joie de vivre. Anyhow he was at this swanky bar in Sydney this day and had had a few with a group of guys and gals, piano going and singing along etc, so he goes to the bar 'tee martoonees please' came his utterance much to the mirth of all within earshot, God bless 'em.

Well what are you proposing? I mean does it matter what the buyer does?nope not in the least bit. They could buy an exclusive guitar, set it on fire on yputube for 1 millions + view. It’s doesn’t matter does it?
I didn't propose anything.
I'm just surprised by opinions expressed as unequivocal statements.
Although...here on the internet...I guess we just assume everything is an opinion.
As dad used to say, "Everybody is entitled to my opinion."
He had no idea how much of the internet he was putting in a nutshell.
