• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

How about a little vintage Fender love?

1956 Strat pick up covers look like 1957...no bakelite wear?
quite possible, the body is date 9/56, the neck is dated 10/56, and the pots are dated 43rd week of 55. Figure that out :) . If you can tell me the date when Fender changed pickup covers in late 56 early 57 , then I can narrow down it's assembly date

1956 Tele looks more yellow and translucent than mine, in my hand before I picked up my laptop?

What's that mean ? It's yellowed more than yours ? comparing 60 year old finishes from internet pictures doesn't give accurate results :)

Always coveted Shoreline Gold...only handled one that had about 80% of its finish. Badass color.

The OG case is even cleaner and has the Fender cloth & ashtray...

I don't have any pics and it's not a particularly valuable guitar, but I just set up a friend's '66 Musicmaster II that he's owned since the early '70s. The guitar's in great shape and the checking is beautiful! It's Dakota red with a pearloid pickguard and sharkskin case. I played it with the band I'm in and fell in love with it! What great tone and playability! I told the owner that I considered running away with it.
I used to have a '66 Mustang in the same color and condition but it didn't sound this great.
