How 'bout a LPF Vintage Les Paul Calendar?

I haven't seen this idea come up for a while (as far as I know) so I thought I'd bring it up now. With all the other LPF merchandise that's been for sale recently, I thought a calendar might be a nice next project...and something we could produce every year. And with all the killer guitars and photographers around here, finding material shouldn't be too difficult...unless you guys are saving those great pics for your vintage LP coffee table book(s), that is. :salude Producing this type of calendar on-line has never been easier. My only concern would be whether the quality and color would be up to expectations. And I actually see an opportunity to market such a calendar well beyond the boundaries of the LPF.

What do you think? :)

I was going to suggest the same thing. After I posted that pic of my Rossington & someone mentioned that it looked like a calendar page...it got me thinking.

Our version of the Pirrelli Calender. Guitar porn! But is it too late to get something out for 2016 ? I'll handle the Oz connection.

Merchandise section (T-Shirts / Coffee Mugs) states No International Orders

Pointless for any overseas members then.

Cool idea. Unfortunately, I stopped buying calendars a few years ago, since everything is on my phone.
I could make an exception.

My company makes calendars and I suggested it to the powers-that-be, at this website and even sent sample calendars.

There was initial interest at first, but then they took a pass.

I had offered to sell them slightly above cost and they could charge more money to help fund the website like they do with the great tee shirts.

When I was told they were passing on the calendars, I then asked if I could sell them myself and was told it sounded like I would need to take an add and put it in the classified area.

Oh well, perhaps next year.

Or perhaps if enough people tell them they are interested, perhaps they will change their minds.

That's great info, thanks! And probably explains why we haven't heard from any of the top dogs in this thread. I figured it was something they had already considered, and rejected, or they were about to release one, and I was ruining the surprise!

What made me think of this was, I was at a mall last night and was checking out the calendars at the calendar kiosk. The vintage guitar calendars they had there were not too impressive, and I was thinking that what they were missing, was a killer vintage LP calendar. I do think that it could potentially be a big seller, especially if done well.

As you said, perhaps next year.

well, without stepping on any toes....

If the readers here want to send me high quality pictures of their vintage bursts, some information on the guitar or guitars in the photo, I will put together a calendar.

I need 12-13 good photographs and landscape would work best.

I sold the calendar concept to an advertising agency and a bank in my area (I do direct mail but we have a personalized printer capable of printing the calendars.

I will also put your name on the cover of the calendar and inside each page.

Here is a photo of a personalized calendar so

you can see, landscape words best.

Without 12-13 great photos from the guitar owners (so that way I would have permission to use the photos) I can't do this project. I have a '59 burst and would use a page for my guitar.

Here's what it would kind of look like....

I think if you limit it to 'bursts, then you may have a hard time getting enough for year one, let alone subsequent years...especially if we don't get participation from people like Tom, Charlie, Joe B, the ATC, Vic, etc (although it wouldn't be the same without them!). Just think of some of the amazing vintage GTs, Customs, Juniors, etc we'd be missing! :salude

Guys,

I passed on Talonmm's generous offer because, just being honest, selling and shipping LPF swag is a pain in the ass, and makes us VERY little, if any, money after all is said and done.

Just being real.:jim

And Charlie, there are no hard feelings on my part. I love this site and am grateful for you, Tom, and everyone else, who keep this site going.

Thanks for all the work that goes into making this such an amazing place to visit and learn about guitars!

I don't know if it's too late to do a quality job on these calendars at this point, but if the volume isn't too crazy...and people pay thru Paypal...and shipping is done via USPS Priority Mail...I'd be willing to take care of shipping them out. I'd stipulate Paypal and Priority Mail, because that would allow me to print shipping labels and ship from home (I don't get out much :laugh2:). If the calendars would fit into a 12-1/2" x 9-1/2" envelope, Priority Mail shipping within the U.S. would be $5.25 (hopefully, these will fit into my mailbox).

Frank. Could us non-US geezers further impose by asking if you'd handle shipping overseas? I do understand that it's a pain in the arse, but I for one would love one of these calenders, as I'm sure others would too.

I don't see why not...again, assuming we proceed with this, and on the condition that Paypal is used and the person(s) has a confirmed Paypal address. But Priority Mail International gets a bit pricey, more like $25.25 USD.

Man, our Mr. Daughtry alone took enough wonderful vintage guitar pictures to fill calendars for the next few years to come.

Charlie, if you don't want to publish a picture book sometime soon, this would be a great way to spread the love ... err ... your amazing camera work!

I'd buy a calendar with CDaughtry shots (of vintage guitars, not the vintage guy ) ...

Re. international shipping: I would ship these internationally using USPS First Class ... only difference to the $10 more expensive Priority International is that it arrives a few days later. There's no insurance, real tracking, or whatever for small Priority International shipments, as far as I know.

I agree wholeheartedly! But I'm guessing there will be a book at some point, so I'm not sure that he would want to use some of those great pics for the calendar...and I can't say that I'd blame him. But quite frankly, a LPF calendar without his pics wouldn't me much of a LPF calendar, if you ask me. :)

I understand that First Class would be a lot less expensive. But I don't think that Paypal allows me to ship via First Class Mail directly from their website, but I'm not certain of that (if someone knows otherwise, please enlighten me). And the main reason I like using Paypal is the click and ship function where I don't have to do any manual entry of the shipping address. This is especially important to me because I find many international addresses to be very confusing when I try to enter them into the USPS website manually. If someone else has more experience doing that than I, they're welcome to take on international shipments. But unless it's an automatic, no-brainer for me, then I don't want the extra work, responsibility or worries associated with it. I hope you understand.
