• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

How do I submit a custom order through the Gibson Custom Shop?

Hey guys. OP here.

The Gibson Garage in Nashville finally came through for me. They submitted my M2M order to the CS at the end of last month.

Before the holiday weekend, they touched base with me, and told me that they're waiting for the CS to determine whether or not my custom finish is "available".

Apparently, there are certain colors of PAINT that aren't accessible at the CS.šŸ˜¤

Which could also be interpreted as 'not viable'... right? Not just supply chain, although it could be that.

What is the finish spec / color in question, BTW?

The only difference is that I don't want the flamed top.

Thanks. So, Trans-Purple. That shouldn't be too hard to execute, or duplicate, depending on supply chain issues. Even then, if the staff knows their stuff, they should be able to source alternatives. Let's hope your snafu is just bureaucratic BS!

Well, my M2M order specifies an opaque/metallic purple or violet.

I don't see why the Gibson Garage is telling me that the CS wouldn't be able to have that finish in their factory.

Well, then your order is not Trans-Purple, which is what that Custom Axcess is spec'd with ... and has been produced across several models in the HJ era. So very 'known' to them.

Other legit 'purple' colors from the CS included Heather Poly Metallic, Lavender Sparkle, and Purple Sparkle; if not any of the preceding: perhaps what you have requested is being interpreted as not yet in their wheelhouse and requires some diligence???

It will be interesting if the nut of this is the Gibson Garage folks aren't as knowledgeable or connected to those in the CS as the forum dealers mentioned who have long-standing communications for pretty interesting M2M orders... I think that's why many are keen to understand where your are at, and how this pans out.

Are those colors specifically for the CS LP Axcess Custom or for all CS LPs?

Hey guys. OP here.

I have an update for you guys.

The CS told the Gibson Garage that they "can match" any shade of purple that my heart may desire.

Do you experts think the CS would be able to make the Purple/Lavender Sparkle finish happen?

Why don't you ask your contact at Gibson Garage , seeing how you were told they can do any shade of purple . I mean go right to the source or to the proverbial horse's mouth .

DEEP PURPLE RULZZZZ!
You know Mr. Ren when I first seen the Deep Purple You Tube vids (loved it ) I just assumed it was Ritchie Blackmore , but the first video you posted has Steve Morse (Remember him with the Dixie Dregs ? ) So that threw me and I had to look twice .
