• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

How do you give a guitar that aged patina?

How would one give an aged patina to a shiny finish? Not finish checking, just that dullish played in look as opposed to the shiny, polished look.

Thanks!

play it and don't polish it. that look comes from the finished being rubbed down over time, grime left on it, and the laquer changing. the first 2 happen quickly if you play it a lot. the 3rd will be there before you know it.

It does not take long with nitro to give it an aged look. Like others, say, just don't polish it.
