Hi ,

for a project I´d like to use waffleback tuners, but I want to change the metal keystone buttons. I will put some custom made Ivoroid buttons on. This is just to match the design of the guitar.

I need information about how to remove those without any damage. How are they fixed ?
Or do I have to cut the buttons apart ?

Thank you very much !

I'm not sure about the new ones, But the old, original ones were lead and then plated gold. You could just melt them off with a small propane torch. You may want to ask WD Music what the tips are made with.

Kluson have reissued both types now, the metal key and the plastic/nylon tip ones, just get the plastic tipped ones to remove - if you have already bought metal tips IDK what you would do sorry.

Problem solved !

Thank you for thoughts and ideas.

I´ve just grounded the tips on one side until they came loose and removed them. I think they are made of aluminium.

New tips will be glued on. Easy to do.

Cheers
