Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!
It resembles our Ice storms out here. Breaks down all the trees. We are about 2 city blocks off the highway on a country road, and it took us 2 days to get out, when the last ice storm hit.
They had to bring chainsaws and front end loader tractors to clear the road, and it wasn't just our road, it was EVERY road.
It's bad. Bad thing, you'll be seeing the damage for years to come..
Joe, the electric company is supposed to come and deal with the big tree - we can't really tell how bad, but the damage looks pretty extensive. And it's right around the power lines. Nice - also right above our roof - so there's some large pieces that seem to be suspended right over us - being supported only by branches intertwined with the rest of the tree.
They may not get to us until next week - there were 1400 homes that lost power...trees falling everywhere...
Yes, Mike we are safe, thanks. We're both pretty sore from cutting and hauling branches away from where they were leaning on the roof and fence - they could have easily come through a window.
There were no winds. This was totally caused by heavy wet snow that stuck on the trees. This town never gets this stuff (the last time there was any real snow accumulation was in 1996), so the weaker trees really aren't up to the challenge.
Glad you are both okay. I didn't see the snow (it obviously melted), so that's why I thought it was wind. Will keep my fingers crossed that no damage occurs before the electric company takes care of the remaining branches. It will be a mess for a few years, but Mother Nature has a way of helping get things back in order....at least she does around here after ice storms!
Lily, that must be heartbreaking to see your trees damaged so bad. I was just outside cutting up part of a small tree that had split and fallen from the main trunk. Compared to what you must be going through, my task today was a cake walk.
Glad to hear you two are safe and no damage came to the house.
Yes, it sucked - that was my favorite tree in the whole yard that caused all the problems. I was bummed. BUT it will allow for a lot more sunlight in that area in the spring for grass and flowers, so all is not lost.
Glad you guys are o.k.! Ma Nature can whip some nasty happenings when she wants to!:eek
We had a lot of hail damage this past summer. Took some give-and-take, but we came out allright. Keep your eyes open!
