I'll just leave this here....
Your recollections of these old gigs are absolutely bloody marvellous OldStrummer.I attended the 2nd Annual British Rock Meeting on Insul Grün in Germersheim, Germany in May, 1972. A lot of name brands - especially if you were into UK and European groups as well as American acts. The Kinks, Pink Floyd, Rory Gallagher, Quiver, Wishbone Ash, Amon Düül II, Nazareth, Osibisa, and... Humble Pie.
By the time Steve Marriott and company hit the stage, I was headed off the island. It didn't make a difference, as Humble Pie was so loud you could hear them clear across the water. Wow.
(Setlist here)
Vic, you've given me an idea for a thread....In the early 70's I had this crappy Lear jet 8 track player Steve & Peter rocked me to sleep many a night .
Still today I feel fortunate to have this and many other British bands in my life , The Brits have such a sound its theirs they own it .
