• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I just played the 50th anniversary Goldtop from GC.

I wish I could report is was amazing; definitely not my cup of tea.
I was expecting to see some killer aged Murphy.
Instead it's a goldtop with a gaudy goldplated headstock, ebony fingerboard, and I think a gold pickguard.
Lot's of gold! They should call it the P. Ditty signiture model.
$7500.00 and this one was a major boat anchor. You would literally have to sit down if you were going to play it for more than one tune.
Comes w/a tweed case. Maybe something cool/collectable? down the road for someone with cash to burn, I took a pass.

The first thing I thought when I saw the pictures of the 50th Anniversary was "that's not a players guitar". The guitar has been made with collectors in mind, not players which is a real shame. May be they could have made a couple of different versions, as Fender did, one collectors edition and another players guitar.

Here's to 2009 bringing an ULTIMATE 1959 reissue.
