• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I think I just scored...

an all original pair of JBL D-120F's. They have the aluminum dust covers, all paper cone/surround and are grey frame with a yellow sticker. The seller told me he would take them back if I found the cones weren't original. They have been sitting in a closet for about 20 years.

What else do I need to look for on the cones?

There should be a code on the back of the cone. I believe it's 4-5 numbers. Check to see if the outer ring is a single and not double. Single is right double is recone with a later kit. You don't want the cloth cones. You can spot them by being able to see through the outer perimeter of the cone.

It's possible they are 100%. The true test is the tone. What are you putting them in?

There are numbers on the sticker 30046 and 30149. I don't have a cab for these yet. If these JBLs are good I'll buy one. Right now the only cab I have is a Vox repro w/blues. So trying them out is a little bit of a problem.

I haven't actually paid for these yet but I decided to buy them based on the description.

Plaintop,

The guy that's selling them lives near Philadelphia. I need to send him the $$ and he will ship the speakers. If he keeps his word I can get my money back if they're not original.

Would you be open to taking a look at them when I get them? Fredrick is just a hop skip from here.

Thanks

Sure, I have original ones here. Shoot me an email when they come in.
