I told my wife that I wasn't buying any more guitars and she laughed and laughed...

So, it turns out that I am a big fat liar. I thought that I was all set and that I had all the Les Pauls that I would ever need. I told myself to just enjoy the ones that I have and to stop looking at other Les Pauls. But alas, I did not take my own advice. It turns out that I REALLY need a black Les Paul.

I just bought this 2014 Les Paul Memphis ES. It will arrive on Tuesday which happens to be my day off. I ordered Seymour Duncan Slash double black pickups for it as well as all black plastics and amber speed knobs.

Congrats! Those Memphis ES Les Pauls are great guitars…… & Light! I have one in Bourbon Burst. Give the pickups a try before you pull them. They a unique to Memphis guitars. I have way too many guitars & told myself I was done, I already have another on the radar…..

Agree on the MHS pickups, they are great in ES guitars.

Assuming Tolly wants to keep it in that old school PAF territory.

No wife.
No limits.
Freedom is a wonderful thing JB. I’m married but I’m allowed to be irresponsible. haha. I’ve been married for 19 years so far and she has never said anything about my guitars, basses or amps. She’s totally fine with it. She laughed at me when I said I was never buying another guitar because she knows me better than I know myself. I only made that statement two or three weeks ago so I should really get to know myself a little bit better. She’s an awesome wife. I was leaving to get tattooed on Tuesday and she handed me a $100 bill toward the ink.

Well, I do love old school PAF so I’ll try them before I swap them. If I decide to leave it as is, I can put the Slash pick ups in my modern Les Paul. I have the Slash pick ups in my Slash guitar, and I love them. I have DiMarzio Axis / Van Halen pickups in the modern and although I love them in a Music Man Axis, they seem a bit muddy in my Les Paul.

Thanks! I will try the pickups before I decide if I will swap them.

What do you have on the radar?

Happiness all around! Congrats... you found a rare woman (in my experience, at least, which is considerable), so keep her, and keep each other happy.

I wasn’t planning on buying this fast, but once things start rolling it’s hard to stop. I’ve been watching this 2019 Les Paul Standard (50’s) for a few months on Craigslist. I made the seller an offer this morning. He didn’t exactly take my offer, but he knocked $100 off. Now I’m storing it! Through the years I’ve had many LP variations, but never a Standard. Or one in Cherry Sunburst. Situation remedied.
