• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

If you could only have one amp one guitar and no pedals. What is it?

Kemper is cheating- a "fake" amp. It's like wishing for more wishes.

My Wizz Burst and my Kemper :salude

Amen! :hee

Tough question as I'd want to know the gig but equally with a stripped down rig I'm happy with anything as the setup in itself is a fun challenge to extract tone and variety. I've done many gigs this way in small clubs - typically with a Mesa Boogie Studio 22 and either a tele or a strat (because the other guitarist used a Les Paul).

Give me a Les Paul and any decent tube combo and I'll take it but lean towards a classic voiced Marshall or Fender. I'd genuinely be happy turning up to a local gig with my Fender Blues Junior and a Les Paul and expect to rock it, but a boost pedal would be nice!

Give me 10 pedals and I'll be more picky :)

Is it cheating if I pick one with the fuzz built in? :peace2

Nope I just put a Rangemaster into this guitar. No master volume, no problem :)

I own a lot of amps but none that would be loud enough for some gigs but quiet enough for others, other than my Mesa DC2 1x12 combo. I got it with an 1X12 extension cab that I use for bigger venues. So it would probably be that amp and my Zemaitis SUJ101 LTD13. The guitar has big fat single coil DeArmond styled MR2000B pickups in it that I could get most of my favorite tones out of.

Here's the guitar...

The amp is on the far right in this pic...

Guitar: My 1995 R9 (modified with old Gibson PAFs, a double white @ 8.5Ω in the bridge, double black @ 7.5Ω in the neck, Luxe caps, all else stock.)
Amp: My 1989 Mesa Boogie MK III (walnut & wicker 1x12 combo, Simul-class, [4-power tubes], Black widow, no 5-band EQ.)

Really, it's all I've ever needed...but don't tell that to my wife! :salude

5E3 and a beat up LP Junior with a single dogear. Jumper the channels and let it sing.

Got to play a rig like that some years ago, and it's still the ideal sound. Been having GAS for both of those ever since.
However, I still like to have a lot of different sounds available to me.
