As much as I'm into my LP, a Strat is just that much more versitile, being able to play any style. Not saying that a Les Paul can't do all of it either, but adding the trem to the Strat puts it to another realm.It’s refreshing to see that even though it’s a Les Paul forum, a fair few are going Fender or other.
If I was to choose one of my own guitars, though, I'd probably go with my Schecter Custom Shop. Strat style, with a HB in the bridge and a coil tap on that, that will add that second coil to any switch setting. (I think that's what it does - I bought it used with no documentation, and I'm never been able to find anything.)
Either that or my LP after adding coil taps to the pickups.
