• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

You are going to post more pictures I hope! And sound bytes? It's a moral imperative!

NOW THAT IS A KILLER GUITAR! LOVE IT!!! :dude::dude::dude:

My dream guitar is a 57 Conversion like that!

I highly doubt I'll be able to afford a real burst or PAF Goldtop, so a conversion is my ultimate goal.

Nice wood repair job! My machinist buddy and I did a similar repair on his old LP Deluxe a few years ago. This one was gouged out horribly for a middle pickup, and the pickup routs were gouged out similarly as awful. He clamped into a Fadal CNC and cut the hole and a matching plug that fit super tight. Turned out really nice. He wanted a goldtop so I shot one for him. I wound a pair of PAF style pickups for it as well.

To be honest, I was a bit suspicious before I saw the guitar but that changed when I played the first chord. The newly added PAF's are just perfect. Just can't put it down... It's really awesome :dude:

Played it onstage for the first time last night :) Wow, talk about cutting thru the mix, this baby is amazing.
Even with a crappy solid state London S*itty half stack, turned up loud it sounded great and I had a lot of fun with my buddy Maroen.

So two years in, time for an update.

Since the day I got it, this guitar has been getting better and better. I got this one knowing I was gonna play it and I must admit the first band rehearsal was a bit intimidating, but that changed during the second or third song when I hit the top with a mic stand... I've been playing it daily ever since, it lives on a guitar stand right besides me and goes with me anywhere there music to be made. I feel it's become part of my body, it's so comfortable, plays so nice, sustain so sweet and just does everything I ask it to do. It really has been a life changing experience.

It took me a almost a year to figure out which amp was the perfect one. I played a Dr Z for a while, then a 50watt JMP, tried a couple Supro's, dug out some 90's stuff like my Koch KC50 and my Overtone special but finally settled on a blackface Deluxe Reverb Reissue for rehearsals and small bar gigs and my '66 Super Reverb for anything else.
All my pedals are stored away in their boxes, just the Overated Special and Zendrive get some use. The Zendrive is my go to pedal when I don't bring an amp, the OR Special runs with the DRR/SR. And yes, my amps do go flat out...

Great guitar and thread. Are my eyes deceiving me or is that Eelco Gelling you are plying with? :dude:

Mr. Snappy, your right, that is Eelco. We've been friends for years and he's joined me on stage many times. Sometimes we get together just to compare our old guitars :)

It's a late '55 and always had the abr, it was badly routed and refinished in the 70's, ages before it went to Florian for the restoration.

I agree with you in general! In this case DutchRay made a butchered guitar better though, he didn't start the modding :) .

Time for an almost 5 year update!

The frets are worn, she sings on every note, has become part of my body, is my clear No1 guitar!
Since I got it, I've taken it out as much as possible and played it at most shows and rehearsals and the couple of times I didn't it just didn't feel right.

oh and I did step down from 11's to 10's. The acoustic sound got clearer and I learned to not overhit the strings and choke the sound šŸ˜Ž

Just for fun, I also added some friends, so it won't feel so old ;)
