• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Is it time for another Top Carve thread??? I think so.

Luizmax...

Is that a Gibson? the curve is so close to the edge...
You're right, sir. That's a replica. But I could also add that there's a lighting trick at play here. In order to picture a full round of highlight on the carve, the highlight moves giving the impression that it's thinner. It's difficult to photograph the top carve. Check this second picture when I moved a little bit to the side... it seems to give a different impression.

I agree it's hard to photograph the carve -- and other contributors have disagreed, but I think it's even more difficult with a black glossy finish 'cause to get the light to show off the carve you get mirror images of your surroundings showing up in the finish.

Anyway, I went back and tried using a tripod and shooting the same Custom I've probably bored you all with before ... and it didn't come out any better. But I'm posting the pics anyway. Plus a couple of my Standard 80 'cause it's got a great carve I CAN photograph.
