• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Is My Les Paul Standard a Honeyburst or Ice Tea Finish?

I just bought a 2006 Standard Plus Les Paul but it was listed as Iced Tea/Honeyburst, and I'm not sure which it is. Not that it's super important or anything, it's just nice to know in case anyone asks :)

The plot thickens...

I asked Gibson what finish it is based on the serial number. They told me this...

'The serial number refers to a guitar in Ice Tea finish.'

So there you go, who'd have thunk it? :)

But I agree with you, it does look more honey than ice tea.

Did you get the Inspection Card that it shipped with? The model # will have the color code within it.

I just came across something interesting.

I believe my guitar is an Ice Tea Burst as it looks identical to the bottom one in the flesh. It certainly ties in with what the Gibson rep said about the serial being associated with an Ice Tea model.

Okay, so I looked in the pickup cavity...

Here's a pic from another angle. It does look more honeyburst than Ice Tea. I love it, it's so unusual.
