• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Is your Les Paul female?

A number of us refer to our Les Paul as female, like a ship. There are quotes like "She has tone for days", "I can't wait to bring her home". I have no problem with that, I would just like to hear some explainations of why your Les Paul is female.

If you feel comfortable strapping on "Jack" or "Harry" then have at it...

not that there is anything wrong with that.

Could go either way, eh? Body is curvaceous-esp the top carve, but the neck is...uh, rather phallic. But, like Groucho says, sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

I have yet to see a guy shaped like that.

The first time I read a guitar name it was in the late '60s... George Harrison's Lucy ..........and on she goes.
Funnily enough I haven't named my two Yairi acoustic/electrics anything only the two LPs I've had/got.........a Classic named Bernice(no longer around) after one of the names written in the pot/cap route........ and my current R0 Xena which was mentioned by Big Al(before I bought her in '03) when discussing all things NZ(Xena Warrior Princess was filmed here and screened on US TV).

After years of government funded scientific research, top experts on the subject have concluded that all Gibson as well as Fender guitars are unquestionably female. The latest test data also confirm what scientists have long speculated and that PRS are hermaphroditic or she-male. A pal of mine that has several PRS models has always tried to tell me that his guitars had a certain je ne sais quoi. Now I know what that certain something is. My friend can keep his he-bitch guitars all to himself as far as I'm concerned.

I don't usually refer to them as her but both of my LP's have girl names. They are in memory of two wonderful mother's in my life Geraldine and Nancy, RIP.

:rofl :rofl

Dude, you ain't right..

Several reasons why my Les Pauls are female:

*I follow tradition and name my guitars after woman to follow the lead of pickers such as the afore mentioned G. Harrison and "Lucy", and B.B. King and "Lucille". If there are others from back in the day y'all pitch in and list them.

*In Spanish the correct gender is feminine, La guitarra.

*I personally can't seem to warm up to the idea of having something sitting in my lap or with my arms around in an intimate sort of way and call it "Charles". But hey, each to his own....thats why I have Melissa, Jenny, and Grace:ganz

I suppose that means that BC Rich and Jacksons (especially the pointy ones) are male?

The top carve is the mirror image of a woman's belly, and the Spanish guitar shape is curvacious as a woman for the very reason stated above. :wow
And yes when the wife pisses me off I turn to the mistress. :jim
