Hhhmmm LA likes GR guitars but don’t like his music? Oh well. Here’s Gary playing Bernice creating history in the Hell House before the big time hit. Sounded damn good to me thru those peavy amps. Back then he would just throw it on the couch and walk down to peters creek and go fish.7K, and 29 minutes is what your up against nowadays eh? If I had been there in 28 minutes our friend marasurf, would be looking at my pics instead of his:hee
Our biggest friends in the guitar playing world are people that hate relic style guitars, whether they look like they were put in a blender, or the infamous "dragged behind a pickup truck" theory. Those guys are one less person I have to bid against when it comes to guitars. I hope they are all relicing up their guitars when the next Rossington comes along:salude
Pics are all well and good on the net, but in your hands is where these guitars shine to me. Big necks, worn in feel that is beyond comfortable, and the tone is there. The kicker for me is that I am not a big fan of Gary Rossington, having been brought up in the days where they burnt out their tunes on the radio, it actually got quite annoying. Nor did I even know that he played a 59 LP, all I remember of the gear in the band is the Peavey amps.
Although everything is cyclical, I see the recent history shows that there are less being sold, at least in the places I look anyway. If anyone wants to get rid of theirs feel free to contact me, I would love another one, or two.
If you dont have the dough for a real 59, IMO this is the next best thing. No tonal analogies needed please, I know every 59 sounds better than anything else, and I agree on the old wood theory. But unless your a thousandaire, you are not going to get near an old one anyways.
They are purty aint they?
