• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

As some of y'all know, about 3 weeks ago, J.D. was in town to play a show. He came over, we had a very nice guitar hang, and at the end of the day we switched guitars for awhile. He took one of my 59 345s and I have "Red," his 1962 ES 335.
I've been enjoying the hell out of Red while it's been visiting. It's got a great throaty tone to it, and really has the Cream vibe going on. I took a few shots of it today, I hope you'll enjoy them. I don't know when we'll switch back. I'm in no hurry!:jim

Very cool guitar. And in typical Gbson fashion they just shipped the Collectors Choice version of this guitar. It is CC#42 and they are very very limited and only built 25 in Nashville Custom for world wide distribution. But the kicker is the USA didn't get any and they all went over seas and this sucks big time cause this is great guitar and JD is a great player. It was rumored that Gibson Memphis was going to build a VOS and or possibly an aged version as well but Gibson Nashville has informed me this won't happen.

Beautiful color and great photos as always from Charlie. What is the neck profile like on it?

It's got a very pleasing neck shape, not your typically wide flat 62 neck. In a lot of ways, it's a lot like a smaller necked 59 345 I have. I REALLY dig this neck.:dude:

Charlie, do you have any pic focusing at the snake bite? I would love a better look at it.

And I wonder: does anyone agree with JD that replacing the bigsby with a stop tail can make a guitar sound even better?

Thanks for the photos. Interesting to hear about the neck feel. That period really interests me as I've played so many variations. My 63 Jr has HUGE neck, where as my previous 62 Special was more like you've described. Clearly, no one size back then.
