• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Absolutely. There's so much Les in Beck that he was the natural for that tribute. He killed it. Everything thing else I heard (while dozing off) was typical award show sounding crap. This one actually sounded really great! Total pro.

It was cool to see him with a flamey sunburst standard too. El Becko rocks!:salude

They nailed it. What a great tribute. I can't see anybody making a better job of that.

Jeff was the man for the job. No offense to Jimmy.

It was incredible.

ABSOLUTELY!!!!

Jeff causually and comfortable going in front of that audience for one tune, channeling the spirit of Les Paul and JUST NAILING IT!

I could always hear Les Pauls influence in Jeff playing. He was indeed the right
man for the job.

Nice ax too, killer top!. I guess the Oxblood was not the appropriate weapon of choice for the evening.

Dumb question, was that Imogene Heap singing with him? He uses her frequently, more recently on "Ronnie Scotts."

Did I just see JB play chord progressions? I must have dreamt it.

Thats Imelda May, Irish singer. Rockabilly mainly.

if that was live- what was done to her voice? Or were the four other singers somewhere?

I thought the Les Paul tribute was great. When I heard them mention Jeff Beck doing a Les Paul tribute I thought for sure he'd come out with the oxblood. Looked like a nice RI though.

The other two performances on the show were very good were Lady Antebellum and the Michael Jackson tune. I don't get Taylor Swift winning so many awards. Hopefully her studio recordings are better because he live performance was way off key. A lot of the other performances seem to be more about the visual than the music itself. I guess I was feeling a little old watching the show because good ol' classic rock style music isn't even represented anymore. Too much rap and R&B for my tastes.

You know what? Zak Brown band kicked my ass. I had NO IDEA how strong they were vocally.

It was great seeing Leon, a trues elder statesman, although he seemed a bit catatonic.
Hopefully, he's o.k. Long live Leon!

I was so engulfed in Jeff's playing I missed the vocal thing which I definitely caught after you mentioned it.

I really believe knows a LOT more than he may be given credit for.
The odd time signitures in so many of his tunes are off the charts.
