I can understand as to why Jimmy Page played the ES, it has that great blues sound that most Gibson guitars are known for. Joe Perry of Aerosmith (a lifelong Yardbirds fan) has played an ES 335, as did Angus Young.

Were those early ES350t models the same size and the same scale length as Byrdlands? Byrdlands being more pricey due to the solid spruce tops and more ornate binding and hardware.

Yes. The ES350t is a less "blingy" Byrdland. They had a laminated maple top and rosewood fretboard. (I believe there may be a few with a carved spruce top...)

Not to get too far off track but like just this week I realized nearly all of Gibsons top line archtop jazz boxes only have 20 frets, including even the awesome ES175, while curiously the Byrdlands and ES350ts have 22. For 43yrs I never knew that LOL.
