• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I've been researching for pickups for my next LP and wasnt sure what Jon may recommend for a JP Pre 72 style pickup set. The Demos of the Pre and Post 72 sets from Rewind seems promising as well but theyre much more expensive and have a longer wait time. My current LP i had a set custom made from Manlius with his standard 7.6k Short Alnico 5 T-Top in the bridge, and an 8.6k Alnico 2 PAF in the neck. It works surprisingly well despite being such a hot neck pickup as well as the middle position does the post 72 Page quack very well. Still I was very impressed with the demos of the SLE-101's, had great neck clarity and middle position quack. Basically I'm seeking the most strat-like neck PAF that still has some good output, and a nice quack in the middle position. Rewind's JP Neck pickup is 8.6k with a slightly degaussed unoriented alnico 5 magnet but surely Jons approach to Page could be very different.

Rewinds and throbaks are nearly the same price, amigo- not sure why you think they’re different

ReWinds are $70 more a set. Not all that much more in the grand scheme of things, but at the $500+ price range every dollar seems like a lot.

Have you considered Wizz? He makes pre and post ‘72 sets as well.
