• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

It was cool to watch. Considering Joe introduced Zakk as a "fellow Les Paul man," it would have been nice for him to have played an LP instead of that hideous looking thing he's been toting around lately.

Zakk needs to stop playing too fast just for the sake of it and take a listen to his own Pride and Glory CD to remind himself how it's done.

Oh, and ditch those ridiculous guitars he keeps showing up with. :2cool

After Cream, nobody has ever covered crossroads without it turning into a wankfest. Even Clapton. The song should be forbidden territory.

I can't stand Zakk's electric playing anymore. Walked out during a solo a couple of years ago, sound was horrible, too.

In June we saw him at the Iridium, acoustic set with Nick Catanese. Awesome!

Seriously? Can't the guy who has sold millions of records (unlike you or I) play whatever guitar he wants to play?

I'm not going to say any of that was "bad", but I will say that for me, Zakk's style loses the musicality - especially when he goes really fast over a bunch of notes that are only a half-step away from each other. Whereas even when Joe plays fast, I can still hear the notes and melody with perfect clarity. Zakk creates such a blur it ends up having no definition, at least to my ears. But he made a huge career doing that for people who love it, so I gotta give him some credit there.
