Apparently his Rickenbacker is a 331 Lightshow, which is one of the rarest color schemes known to Rickenbacker collectors. The Lightshow finish only existed from 1970 to 1975. John Entwistle played a Lightshow Rickenbacker bass around the time The Who put out Quadrophenia.
But I believe that Joe acquired his Rickenbacker around the time Get Your Wings was being recorded, and it is rumored that he used the Ric on the albums Get Your Wings, Toys In The Attic, and Rocks. He started reusing the Rick lightshow around the time Nine Lives was made in 1997. Of course Joe Perry is more well known for playing Fenders and Gibsons, as well as the occasional Gretsch.
I am sure he still owns it.
But here is the picture of Joe with the Rickenbacker
Of course I don't think Joe Perry ever sells his guitars. He has had a few stolen though.
I hope this picture sheds light on the Rickenbacker guitar even if it is in poor quality.)
