• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Junior --> Special conversion??

This "Special" guitar is sold but it could be a fun discussion.

It has several Junior traces. Screw holes from a dogear cover, hacked up neck pickup cavity, filled holes lining up quite perfectly for a Juniors volume and tone knobs.

Whaddyathink? :)

Possibly, you have to catch Scott on a good day with the right guitar. We are not doing too much refins or restoration lately.
We are pretty busy with the 3 new models and getting the first of the guitars done.
The first 3 will be ready in a few weeks. They will get photographed and sent out for sound bytes.
We also have a new P-90 pickup we will be debuting in the new guitars and some other different twists on the tele style pickups that you haven't heard before.
So we will be back better than ever.

Ok please return to the thread. :)

BTW I'd plug that nasty route, veneer the top with mahogany to cover everything, punch it properly for special routes then re shoot it red, or possibly TV. You'd never know the difference other than the missing neck binding. then again pray there are no breaks under there.

Every junior or special I've ever seen refinned in that terrible white paint color has been hiding a break.

Yeah and look at the shape of the headstock neck carve transition area it looks like it has been sanded to death I almost guarantee there is a break under there!

Rev. Specials had binding, Jrs did not, this perverted guitar would be missing binding unless the fingerboard was pulled off and trimmed for binding.

I was commenting to a fellow forum member in email in relation to the basketcase custom in another thread..

There are way too many pieces of junk fetching cash. People are grasping at straws for vintage mojo.

I misunderstood what you were restoring to - glossed over the words 'special routes'. I thought you were restoring it to a Junior and in that case the binding wouldn't be missing.

:bonk :)
