These guys still got it. It's amazing to see Clapton play all his solos with mostly two fingers. Great sound, Clapton with a basic strat through a tweed deluxe that really honks - and Beck with a rosewood board strat though a Marshall 4x12. I've never been a Clapton fan, but this has swayed me.

I was there - just got home. Great show. The Govnor was excellent as usual and EC stepped up for this one as well. I was pleased the EC was the only guitar player during his set and he really did a lot of playing tonight. He and Beck played some good stuff together including a great version of Crossroads. It was a fun show - better than I thought.

I wouldn't call Clapton's strat basic. It has a 25 db mid-boost and some special TBX? circuit added to it

I sure hope that EC & JB play together at the upcoming Crossroads fest. Beck's set was right before Eric's at the last one, but they didn't do anything together (Winwood played a few songs with Eric: GREAT!).

I was really impressed also with EC's opener, he just sat down and played some blues on an acoustic. The timing of his singing and playing, and his vocal control - it was just great. And it's not easy to captivate an MSG audience sitting down with an acoustic!

I've seen Clapton about 15 times. I've loved every show.

Driftin Blues - awesome! EC did a great version of Tell the Truth and Key to the Highway too.

They did last night - very eclectic set :

Shake Your Money Maker
Moon River (the old Andy Williams torch song with EC crooning and the Gov'nor playing the melody as only he can)
You Need Love
Outside Woman Blues
Little Brown Bird
Wee Wee Baby
(I Want To Take You) Higher (very good & funky version of the Sly and the Family Stone tune - 2 great backup singers in EC's band did a great job and El Becko playin' sick solos)
Encore:
Crossroads (Best version I've heard since the old days - EC pulled out some chops).

That sure is eclectic! Moon River, wow! :wow

Man, I can only imagine (I Want To Take You) Higher. I love that old funky Sly stuff.

Was Tal with JB?

No Rhonda Smith (formerly with Prince) on bass (she was dynamite) Narada Michael Walden is back with Jeff on drums (awesome) Jason Rebello on keys is the the only holdover from the old band.

I'm sure it was great, but wonder why Beck changed out Vinnie & Tal. They were a really great rhythm section.

I saw Clapton a couple of years ago with Doyle Bramhall II and Derek Trucks.

Great!

Vinnie and Tal were very smooth Walden and Smith are much heavier - They played Led Boots and Big Block and it was real heavy like the the original album tracks. My only regret was that Clapton's band backed up JB and EC together - I would have loved to hear Smith and Walden on the Sly tune and even Crossroads I think would have been drop dead if Beck's rhythm section played it with them. Still the show was better than I expected.

Saw them in Toronto on Sunday night. Not overly familiar with JBeck's work - he was terrific! Hard to believe he is 65! Wish EC would "step-out" a little. Always seems to be holding back.
