• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

me too, the last set of strings I put on, I raised the stopbar right up to reduce the break angle, to reduce top e's snapping prematurely, but I found the strings felt a bit more slinky and easier to bend, so this new set, I've top wrapped and loving it and I don't think I'll be going back. Not all topwrapped look the same, some are set up higher with some all the way down (stoptail that is ).Maybe some can show us the difference in angle or height? Mine are all the way down....it does give the feel of string a bit more slinkier and manageable to play it seems. As opposed to a more tight feel which i also dont mind.

Peace!!:salude

tried it on two guitars; an R8 and a Futura replica. I never could get used to how my hand rested over the bridge, and honestly, I think it made the guitars sound less responsive. Maybe it was me. Either way, I converted back pretty quickly. Cool thing about it is that its a mod you can undo it if you don't like it :)

when i bought my guitar, somebody has already top wraped it, so i asked the guys at at samash why they strung the guitar that way, he said that i gave more sustain and made the strings easier to bend, i didnt beleive him at 1st, so when i got home, i restrung the guitar the normal way, and i noticed the harder to bend strings and stuff, didnt really notice much of the sustain thing, but a week a later after i used up the strings i topwraped it ever since and never looked back.

thats cool, the only difference i have noticed in the sound is that there is more of a distinction in the bass strings. Before, the E and A strings got jumbled especially when playing songs like Rock and Roll. Its a plus for an easy and reversible mod. From now on, im going to recommend people to try it at least once.

I noticed in a pic in the new Guitar 1 mag that Joe Bonamossa top wraps his R8!

once you go top-wrap, you never go back.

I tried it a few months ago, with a skeptical "let's see if this really makes a difference" pov. HA! I love it!! The additional plus, IMHO and also dependent on playing style, is that palm muting is much more comfortable with the tp top-wrapped. No need to ever go back for me.
