• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

This is a beautiful 2007 R9 that was picked out of 100 guitars at the
Gibson factory on Dealer Day in Nashville. The guitar never made it to
store, and was purchased directly from Gibson. It was chosen for its
realism, weight and amazing neck. The weight is 8 pounds 11 ounces.
this weight is ideal for a Les Paul, not to light for good definition
and sutain and not too heavy for nice resonance and realism. It
actually feels quite a bit lighter than it weighs. The guitar was
chosen to be sent to RS guitar works for a complete overhaul and
relicing. RS did an amazing job! They put a vintage correct plastic
(nylon) nut, RS tuners, toggle ring, knobs, and switch tip. The RS
tuners are actually the correct single line single ring Klusons. They
also did an electronics upgrade with CTS pots and paper and oil
capacitors. They aged the bridge, tailpiece, and pickup covers, jack
plate, and they put weather checking all over the top, headstock and
back of the guitar. They spent a lot more time on this guitar than i
have ever seen from RS. The realism of the top wood and overall
playability inspired them to go the extra mile on this one. They put a
little wear on the back of the neck and the binding was rolled to
perfection for a very smooth and buttery feel. The fingerboard inlays
were also aged and look amazing, just the right color. The 2007 R9's
feature real Honduras Mahogany necks and backs and are well known to
have some of the most realistic tops. The pictures say it all. This
guitar comes with all the original hang tags and a certificate for RS
Guitarworks authenticating that all the work was done by them. The
neck is dead straight on this one guys, so the action can be set very
low. I find this quite unusual on these Historics, the neck is
straight on both sides of the neck. Oh and by the way, RS installed
the new RS exclusive Lindy Fralin "Psychobilly PAF's which are exact
replicas of Greg Martin from the Kentucky Headhunters famous 1958
burst pickups. These are the most realistic sounding PAF's i have ever
heard. The neck pickup reads 7.6 and the bridge reads 8.25 for a
perfectly balanced set. The neck is the more realistic 59 profile
instead of the huge baseball bat necks Gibson was doing. i believe
this was the first year they got the neck profile right. Still a big
neck but shaped with a slight soft V and not too much wood on the
shoulders, if you know what i mean. The sound is fat AND has nice
smooth highs with excellent midrange honk. Without losing definition.
I am selling this guitar to finance a major vintage purchase and i
will hate to see this one go guys. I figured The Les Paul forum would
be the place to get this guitar to the right home. The price is
$5500.00
