The Dr Vintage page was a great resource for us all, but I see it isn't working. http://www.doctorvintage.com/tuners/50s_klusons.html . The Dr Vintage home page is also not a happening thing. Is the site/business still going?

Did anyone save the web page as a complete file, and if so, are we able to gain permission from Dr Vintage to re-host it somewhere even if temporarily? I have no contact point with Dr V but surely someone here does.

Hope all is okay with Rick. I sent him an email a few months back but no reply. Very unusual for Rick to not reply from my experience doing business with him.

No info on what's up with the web site...

However, the wayback machine is your friend.

I love this page!

Though I must respectfully submit that the "Version 5" Gibson Deluxe double line/double ring was used until mid 1977..(on LP Standard and Deluxe), not '74-'75 as stated on the page.
It also used a large conversion bushing of sorts from mid '75 to mid '77, and when the Schaller made "Flower" tuner came in the same type of bushing was used, but with a smaller inside diameter as the Flower tuner had a smaller shaft diameter.

When the maple neck came in, only one hole size was drilled, (probably to speed up production, and 1 bit make sense in a production sense), and the Custom received the Gibson marked Schaller M-6 type with the metal keystone button, and the Deluxe, then Standard used the Gibson deluxe double rings until mid 1977, when it was replaced by the Schaller flower tuner.

The Dr. Vintage name is back where it belongs. With the person who built the original reputation for it, ten years ago.

Is there a new website?

The one people know has an expired domain, and is no longer on the web.

The domain isn't expired yet. Rick took it down a few weeks ago when I asked him to, because I am now the legal owner of the "Dr. Vintage" name - as I should have been, since I was the one who built the name into the phenomenon it became in 2006.
I'm sure that Rick will set up a new website.

No wiseassery taken. :)

It was in 2006 and 2007. In October 2006 alone I took $20,000 worth of orders for the DrV pickups. It didn't slow down until July of 2008 when I backed off from taking orders due to some issues at home caused by my working 16 hour days....and what follows next... In March of 2007, somebody decided that doing distance work for me wasn't enough, that the pie was his and it came to a head on my birthday, Oct 2, 2007 and lasted through Nov 2008.

this isn't clear at all to me.

What I see is that Rick (Dr. Vintage) commisioned pickups called "Dr. Vintage" to be built by "wolfe". Was there no licensing deal made? why would Wolfe (you?) own the name "Dr. Vintage"?

They were not originally called Dr. Vintage. The original pair was made a few months prior and simply bore his last name because they were custom. The name came about due to a joke someone made, and Rick thought it would be funny if that's what they got called, and people started asking for the same thing, referring to them as Dr. Vintage. There was no licensing deal needed, since I was the first to introduce any product bearing the name Dr. Vintage. A year and a half before Rick had any product at all, and several months before he decided to become a business. By that time, they had already become extremely popular around here.
If you take a look through very old threads, you'll see that Rick "endorsed" the crap out of them, too.

Why would I own the name? Because I own the trademark.

If you look on the bottom, each set was numbered. If you can tell me the set number (assuming it's still there) I should be able to tell you what color was under a cover, what lead it had, and who originally purchased them.

I think you might have set #4 which were originally sold to a guy in L.A on July 12th, 2006. If so, they should be cream under the DMC covers, which looks to have been removed at some point, based on a picture I received as some point by the original buyer. That set was then sold to a Swedish guy in September 2007 right about the same time as that post.
