Hey guys,

maybe one of you is interested in this beautiful and a bit odd Korina V Fretted Americana has on their website. Nut width is 2/10" wider than regular, body thicker also, no COA, headstock looks '67 not 58 but the price is a steal, maybe a luthier built? Case is the CS coffin case. If I was close to them I'd be all over it for sure. Who is going to hunt it down?

Reading between the lines, is there some doubt that this is an actual Gibson product?

The posted price of $1650 must be an error. These normally list for $6999 to $7999.

How would you know what "these" normally list for? Have you seen others like it? It's not a Historic, and most likely not a Gibson.

Well it's nearly identical to my 2008 50th Ann Korina Flying V, only difference being the white pickguard. I know what I paid for mine. Pretty Obvious to me it's a Gibson Korina Flying V from the Custom Shop.

And Fretted Americana has a good reputation. I doubt they would lie about the guitar.

They say in the opening paragraph that it's likely an employee built guitar...a shop night special. If it had the '58 headstock, I'd pull the trigger. But alas...

It's nowhere near "almost identical". Compare the headstock shape, the location of the V tailpiece between the crotch and bridge, the location of the pick guard screws, the shape of the shoulders, the heel... Need I go on?

Scott Matteson replica build. I had two of them, Explorer & V. Both had the 8 6324 SN.
Looks reasonably good for a Matteson. Some where kind of sketchy looking.

If you google "scott matteson replica" you'll find lots of details about his builds -- not very complementary.

OK your are right. I am examining the photos while holding my 50th Ann Korina Flying V. The give-aways are the pickguard and the headstock. Other differences are the bridge location, the crotch in the V cut, and the neck/body joint. Not even close.:ha

Does not look like a Gibson.

Looks nothing like my 50th '58 either. That neck joint is completely wrong, and yes guard, tailpiece, headstock all wrong. Probably a nice axe but absolutely NOT Gibson.

Almost every bogus or altered Gibson comes with that description

And the dealer probably knows EXACTLY what it is , or at least what it isn´t
