• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Good Day All,
I have done what I never thought I would be a be able to do. I have this Gibson R7 VOS paid for and headed my way. After playing Fender Strats and Teles for most of my life I bought a used 2013 Les Paul Standard about 5-years ago. Number 2 is a ‘74 Gold Top that Gibson says was a special order as she isn’t a Deluxe but a Standard with Factory humbucker routs.

Now I have number 3 headed this way and she’s a R7 and weighs in at 8.7 pounds. I have read all of the specs (many times) double gold, ABR-1, Hide glue, Long Tenon, Medium chunky neck, Indian Rosewood, etc.

I’m mostly interested in feedback on the Custom Bucker pickups. Anyone with clean or overdriven audio files please post to this thread. Also, any feedback that you may have in regard to your ownership of one of these awesome guitars would be more than welcome.

Thanks, CBS <><

BTW, I’m buying this guitar to play her and play her often. Living room, recording, gigs, etc. Guitars are meant to be played. If she gets a ding or two so be it. It’s not about the resale value but the value of being in a position to get great guitars and playing them-ALOT !!! Thats what old guys do.

Nice, you will really dig it. I have a 1997 R7 Gold Top that was converted to a “59” by RS Guitar Works, love it! Lefties rule, congrats!

Well, she showed up today as I am leaving town for a medical procedure tomorrow morning.

The Serial Number: 721192

Jimmy said she’s NOS so I’m not sure if she is a 2017 or 2012 or whatever. She os silky smooth, I’m enjoying these first couple of hours together. Bonding. The .10 strings may be a bit light.

Please let me know the year of the guitar I bought and also any info in regard.
Thanks, Guitar_Lefty
