Hi guys,I’m new here, I have gibson les paul standard 2008, and on the neck finish became kind a sticky, when I start to rubbing it seems like there is second layer of finish, when I look closely I can’t see any wood damage or repair, is it normal?

Tough to tell from the pic but is it residue build up or is the finish being worn away? Either way polishing should help.

Lots of things can make nitrocellulose lacquer soft and gummy.
Bug spray, lotion, sun screen, deodorant, alcohol, nail polish remover, etc… it’s not a very stable finish, but it sure does look nice and gives a vintage look like no other.
Try polishing that out? If not, let is cure for a while and hopefully whatever has made it soft will evaporate leaving it harder.

mine is the same, the top nitro layer came off in a couple edge spots and there is indeed another layer of wood protection under the shiny stuff .. I just left it, doesn't bother me

Naptha.

Clean and shine.

If still soft do it again.

Rinse, lather, repeat.

I have a 62 that it took 3 times to get it cleaned to the hard stuff.
