• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Let’s see your G0s!

I have a new (to me) G0 in lemon burst on the way from a Reverb seller.

I’m very excited!

While I wait for the brown truck to arrive, here’s a seller pic.

let’s see yours please!

Congrats on a fine choice. Sorry I don't have one, for obvious reasons. They have the best plain tops and some quirky flame tops ( from the discard pile single A or B?) for my money... as well as that typically warm glow finish. The waiting is the hardest part!

Technically not a G0 but this is one of a limited run of R0's made for GC in 2014. These were produced in a Gloss finish & appointments, not given the VOS treatment and the top has some modest flame to it. I was ironically looking for a plaintop G0 but got this on an offer I couldn't refuse.0621201624_Burst01.jpg

They were all good-looking tops, incredible finish albeit a departure from the prior G0 fare... still great, this one no exception. I love that vibrant red to dark. Like a Brockburst-Darkburst hybrid, when all those new unique burst name were coming out.

That is what this one is I think.

It had a page number from Beauty of the Burst on the box.

Thanks, Renderit. Wow, mine looks just like that. I was looking for an Iced Tea G0 at the time but was able to find mine at a GC a reasonable distance from me. I am so used to buying online now that I jumped at the chance to actually play one in person. It wasn't exactly what I was looking for but I immediately thought of the Koss/EC dark burst and I was sold.

Unless you're hung up on a period correct style serial number, the G0's are probably the best Historic bang for the buck. I also have found that the plaintop G0 tops and colors are fantastic. If I could play a pencil thin neck, Id have a few of these...!!!!

Agree entirely. I can play 60s necks, so I'll modify: If they had made a southpaw, I'd have a few of these.

Really: back in 2000, the G0 was the very first historic reissue I encountered, a plain top washed glow just like @Thunder Dump 2006 pictured above hanging high up on the wall was like a beacon to me, that angelic 'ah-h' sound hit me, I played it upside down n' backwards thus setting me on a path to acquire my first lefty historic.

Didn't happen from GC with any G0, but I found a great R0 washed cherry flame top from Saul / Centre City in San Diego. And more from there!

Great guitars in this thread, really cool lookers in the 2014 limited run too!

And that's where it is not.

This one has the correct period style SN.

The skinny neck (front to back).

Sounds great without mods, but I don't like the neck...

Aloha Bro GO ! I have question about the GO ser numbers. I picked up a Darkburst with ser# GO 50001 would you happen to know the meaning of these ltrs and numbers I couldn't match on any of the Gibson Custom Shop serial number search . The seller mentioned something about it being an early series ser number or did I just get ripped? Mahalo for your understanding patience.

ok, as you know a "regular" R0 serial number would read 0 5001. A Guitar Center R0 simply has the G in front of the zero, which designates it as the GC model...hence G0 5001.
I think you have too many zeros after the 5.
Based on that serial number you'd have a R0/G0 from (5) 2005 and it would be the first one (001) produced for that model year.
Now unless Gibson did something different with the serial numbers for G0's, you wouldn't have the extra digit in the serial number until you go over 999.
For example G0 5997, G0 5998, G0 5999, G0 51001 etc

Interesting.

I own Tak Burst, headstock serial # G0 5001.

COA reads:
Model Number: LPR-0
Serial Number: 0-5001

Bought it new.

You'd be surprised. I know R0 owners who won't touch a G0 because of the serial number. I have also come across Historic owners who won't buy a guitar with a 6 digit serial number (once production exceeds 999 units) because its not a "historically correct" style number ie. 9 2999 and the next guitar would be 921000 with no space between the 1st and 2nd digit. To each his own, I guess!!!

Not surprised at all, but I still think those guys need psychotherapy! 😎

Funny, my #1 guitar is a 2001 Classic PP, and the serial number has no space between year and serial designation (gasp), and the font isn’t identical to a real burst! Holy cow!
