Study too much and you lose spontaneity, creativeness, emotion. Study too little and you end up boxed-in and playing the same stuff over and over again. I try to mix it up. 50/50 maybe. Half the time hitting the books/online courses, half the time just jamming away freely and not much thinking about it. Working too hard makes me a dull boy

Some of the best guitar players I know...world class cats...take lessons.
