• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Let's See Your #1 --- Here's Mine!! Every. Time.

Hard for me to decide, I've settled on these for now & they're all my #1 as I use them all for different things. I love all my children :laugh2:

I love both of my Les Pauls, but I'd have to declare my goldtop as my #1. My R8 has one of the nicest tops you'd ever want, it's been madeover by the best in the business, Historic Makeovers. It's lighter too, but my goldtop has a history with me. It also had a makeover, albeit, not the degree that Historic Makeovers is known for. My friend Lloyd, aka ElectricLloyd as he's known around here, reshaped the neck, using Johnnyslim's 52/57 conversion as the template, and the "soft V" profile fits my hand so well, that it spoils me. I traded the goldtop away to get the R8 in 2015, and this past March traded a vintage Fender amp to get the goldtop back. As much as I love the R8, I haven't used it at a single gig or rehearsal since.

Ive got a '56 Goldtop, that would be a Historic, but it has a slim taper neck. It was specially ordered like that. It was my #1 before I got my '60 Historic. There's just something about a Goldtop. Love a Goldtop, and you've got a fine example of one!

My True Historic 1960. Tried a few times to sell her unsuccessfully due to ME flaking out lol. I love this guitar and it was just my flipping nature to try and make some cash but at this point, It aint going nowhere, its just way to nice an LP to sell and I would definitely regret it

my #1 is the guitar that's out in the open the most. For the last 6 years that's been my Squier CV 50 tele. My les paul lives in its case and gets played the least, sad to say. When the choice is grab the guitar at waist height vs bend down to the floor, put the case on its back, flip 5 latches, take the guitar out and stand up again ... well, hate to say it but ergonomics and laziness rule the day.

Now, if I had a display case securely fastened to the wall, with a glass door that I could just as easily grab the gibson, then it would probably see the most playing time.
