• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Lets's see your F Style builds!

Here's one of mine.

I'm not really sure what to call this, actually. I basically wanted the guts of my 1973 Telecaster Deluxe in a Strat body, and thus this project was born.

Here's the rundown:

MJTele lightly aged nitro on an alder body.
MusiKraft 70's style neck, finished and lightly aged by MJTele.
Lollar Regal Widerange Humbucker clones with nickel covers.
Celluloid tortoise pickguard. Custom made to accommodate the large footprint of the Lollar Regals. Made by Terrapin Pickguards.
Schaller tuners.
AllParts hardware.

I've been dubious of put together guitars like this, but this one came out well beyond my expectations. The Lollar Regals are dead on reproductions of the Fender Widerange Humbucker, IMHO. The guitar is super resonant and plays perfect. Used it now on a number of sessions and gigs.

Blackguards rock!
I wanted a player for the many dumpy gigs that come my way. So about 10 years ago, I made this one in the basement. Selected featherweight body for 6lb 3 oz. I shaped the neck to be like my '56 pictured below, but then I went a little more so its between a '57 and '56. Don Mare's pickups are magical. I've tried several of his variations on the flatpole early/mid 50's pickups. I had a Donocaster 6.4K A3 in this and loved it. But I saw this Super Sport aka El Black Krow 7.5K with A5 mags. Seller said its perfect for the Esquire circuit. I'm liking it in here so far. More aggressive than the other one but still some twang.

Mine aren't aged (except by playing) or fancy builds but they work wonderfully!

I've since tinted the Strat's neck-

I like USACG's logo-

They both have USACG necks with 6105 frets. The Strat's neck is their "boat neck" with a 7-1/4"-9-1/2" radius fretboard. The Tele's neck is a slightly thinner soft V with a straight 9-1/2" radius fretboard.
The Tele has a nice, lightweight USACG ash body, the Strat body is the original alder Fender Hwy 1. They both have Fralin pickups. The Strat has a Callaham bridge. The Tele currently has compensated steel Broadcaster saddles on it. That guitar is considerably more wonr now though in great shape.
