• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Looks like there's a new model/body shape in town, the Theodore

Edit: looks to have an Alder body per the Gibson PR.

Personally, I like it. If I find one that weighs 6lbs or less, I'll probably buy it.

The natural one looks cool but I don't like it at that price. $5K does not sound "affordable" to me as mentioned in the video above but it comes with some nice swag.

Right, $5K...can't imagine these flying off the shelves too quickly.

The price for 'Limited' for sure, collector's item.

FWIW, seems like a lot of preceding comments ignore this model is the inaugural limited run from the 'Archive Collection' therefore straight from Ted's drawing, so the center piece, jack, shape were not imagined. They are, for better or worse, 'historic'. Ric Tulip? Yeah, perhaps Ted saw those; but Ted's drawing pre-dated the Tokai.

It's not really exactly the drawing. Whatever. Not my cup of tea, certainly not at $5 large.

Yup I hear you. Although considering a Special Double Cut is $4k and these are limited with a special case and candy, they will sell out at that price...

I don't even get a choice in the matter. No southpaws in a run of 318 (3 colors x 106), released on 3/18.

5k and limited, this is the collector‘s version. Maybe if it’s successful they’ll release a cheaper USA version. But like J.D. says, this one’s just the first one in the Archive Collection. I dig it, but I’d love to see what else comes our way.

Comparing this guitar to the 'Burst at the top of the page says it all. If it was a Danelectro or Squier, or a similar funky affordable guitar it might be fun. But for that amount of coin, I want something much more aesthetically pleasing than that. I'm sorry to see the new Gibson returning to the pattern of releasing guitars mostly so they can write the press release. (Old man "get off my lawn" rant over. :D)

imo, the original guard shape plus knob & toggle location look much better …the long hockey stick headstock is way to large for that body shape….shortened ( or reversed ) just past the high e tuner and it may work, probably not …either way the guitar is not built per Ted‘s sketch
