Low logo on 56 reissues

Hi all,

So my understanding was that the 56 reissue had a low logo on the headstock. This aligns with photos of this model I've seen on multiple online dealers. It's supposed to be an historical appointment I quite like.

I was checking the Gibson website (https://www.gibson.com/en-US/p/Electric-Guitar/CUS2X7387/Double-Gold) and I see no low logo anymore. Is this a change for 2025? Is the photo incorrect?

Does anyone know?

Thanks,

They haven't "reverted back" to raising it to R7-R0 position AFAIK. Just make sure you get pics of the serial number you are buying, if that's a worry.

Gibson probably hasn't fully updated their generic website photos to include the changes. They are not sticklers for that, although they should be.

Especially since Custom Shop messaging touts changes in various other media.

I've observed subtle rumblings from the product side, there's definitely an 'airgap' in the IT department regarding staying on top of product-specific customer facing aspects. IT team may be understaffed and overworked, or just stuck in a gear.

I’ve had a ‘56 Les Paul Murphy Lab from this year for about a month now and I can guarantee it has the low logo. I think they just haven’t updated the image. So you’re good to go, the logo is definitely low.

Thanks all, I'm going to Gibson Garage London next week and I'll ask there too. I'll post my findings here. I'm also going to ask about neck dimensions.

It's "extra" low today so that they can "correct" it (ie more accurate) in a few years.

It's like when the headstock Gibson logos had an amber tint (circa 99) then no tint (2010s) and finally a tint again starting in 2019.

Have fun there. If you can, please ask about neck dimensions on the 1959 ES 335 reissue from the CS. Thanks.

It'd be great if CS went back to fatter necks for '52-'58 gats...........just better that way.
