• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

M2M '58 ES 335 'Runaround Sue' has arrived.

So 23 nearly or 24 months go by and it comes to fruition......'top shelf' are the words.
Music Zoo in NY said she was a stunner, in the mold of Raquel Welch:ROFLMAO:, but somehow when I saw the pics they sent me(and they said that they didn't do her justice) I didn't believe it, and somewhat questioned that summation in my mind.
However, when I got her out of the case yesterday and saw for myself I said...........what beauty, MZ were correct in every way.
I've had this picture in my mind since I was a 15 year old kid (now nearly 69) of a tobacco sunburst 335, rich in colour and vibrance. Customshop hit it out of the park with this one, which was somewhat of a challenge for them in that they had to go retro, back to the '50s 'fat' neck that my buddy Dave Misley hit them up for a few years ago with his M2Ms, so I followed suit, and luckily for me CS made this '58 passion of mine come to light, and I thank them very much for that.
Pics to follow this week.

Congrats! Even though I live in Cali, I’ve bought a number of things from them! I deal with Jessica and the girl knows her gear! She ordered a Murphy Lab cherry red 335 with a wraptail for me about a month ago(no ABR-1). It’s going to take about a year., but I’m sure it’ll be worth it. I got a ‘64 ES-335 about 2 years back (right after Gibson Custom reopened from Covid) from Jessica and it’s just damn near as good as the real thing..

Yes Jess is who I've been dealing with Don, she's a peach and is extremely helpful in what's been a marathon escapade.

Stunning!

And no neck binding, AWESOME!

That's what I love about the run they did a while back.

Bestest ES I own...

That's what I specified and that's what I got thankfully. CS either approve (or otherwise) what you want beforehand and go from there.
The only variable in my mind was the paint finish so I supplied pics of that style of burgundy surround, great that they got it right on the day!!

Awesome finish coloring. The best I've seen. More hi-res pics, please, once you have had time to bask in the glow. Congrats!

So a first gig outing for Sue was on Saturday night playing for the 3 hours + with no fatigue whatsoever in my lefthand, no shoulder or back fatigue.
Not that I usually get that at all with my other LPs and 335 really, but as I age it's good to know that this new one is comfortable doing the long gigs that we do play as a band.

Abso-bloody-lutely sensational Steve.

What a paint job, that Burgundy is sublime.

How's that neck feel in your hands, all you hoped for?

I couldn't be more delighted for you Pal, well waited out and well played.

In the absolute finest of.....

Cheers Paul.
The neck is a retro thing for a Gibson guitar now and something that's been long overdue since I sold my first gibby(a '69 SG Special in my late teens, a big necked geetar).
Fits like a glove and plays like butter, an absolute peach of a 335.
Hats off to Customshop for this one (y)
